Check Out Hunger is a major fundraiser for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Supermarket chains and independent markets in six counties – Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Dutchess, Ulster and Rockland participate in this campaign annually. This year includes ShopRite, Quick Chek, Adams, and Foodtown.
Placards, with tear-off coupon pads of $1, $3, $5 denominations are positioned at all cashier checkout counters in the supermarkets. Shoppers tear off a coupon, hand it to the cashier and the donation is added to their food bill. The campaign is running now, though the end of the year!
