RCAH SPRING INTO ACTION Flyer -032615

On May 2 and 3, 2015, volunteers from across Rockland County together with girl scouts from the Heart of the Hudson will join together and “Spring Into Action” to fight hunger in our community!

A county-wide food drive will take place at 11 local supermarkets, including DeCicco’s in New City; Pathmark in Nanuet, Stop and Shop in Mt. Ivy, Nanuet, New City, Orangeburg and West Haverstraw; and ShopRite in Garnerville, Stony Point, Tallman and West Nyack.

Many local food pantries and soup kitchens will benefit from this county-wide food drive, including Christ Church of Ramapo Food Pantry, Good Counsel Homes, Iglesia La Mision, Legacy X Food Box, North Rockland Food Pantry, Nyack Food Closet, Rhoda Bloom Kosher Food Pantry, Rockland Independent Living Center, Rockland Interfaith Breakfast Program, Shirley’s Cupboard at Greenbush Food Pantry, Sloatsburg UMC Food Pantry, Spring Valley SDA Food Pantry, Spring Valley United Methodist Church, St Peter’s Food Pantry and Feeding Program, Together Our Unity Can Heal (TOUCH), and WestCop. Collectively, these food pantries and feeding programs serve over 35,000 meals per month!

This event is a collaboration between the Heart of the Hudson Girl Scout Troops and Rockland Community Against Hunger (RCAH).  Founded in 2011, RCAH brings together a network of food pantries & feeding programs, the local Food Bank and local social services agencies. Our primary goal is to provide information about food sources and food-related services, raise awareness of hunger in Rockland County, mobilize support among public and private resources, and educate the community about food and nutrition.  (www.rocklandhunger.org or facebook.com/RCAH.org)
