Check Out Hunger is a major fundraiser for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Supermarket chains and independent markets in six counties – Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Dutchess, Ulster and Rockland participate in this campaign annually.
Placards, with tear-off coupon pads of $1, $3, $5 denominations are positioned at all cashier checkout counters in the supermarkets. Shoppers tear off a coupon, hand it to the cashier and the donation is added to their food bill. It all begins in September. Last year, Price Chopper made some changes to the Check Out Hunger Program. Check Out Hunger was featured chain-wide and the program included two new elements which replaced the traditional pin-up program:
Round Up Your Change – Guests will be able to round up their change at the register, to benefit the Food Bank.
Food Package Donation – Guests will be able to donate a $5, $10 or $15 food package, simply by telling the cashier that they would like to help feed a family in need, and selecting the package they would like to donate.
It’s so simple and sooooo generous! Thank you.
